Bachelor Thesis Project
Elegance is the suavity in movement.
It is implicitness of simplicity and leaves a positive memory. I feel the need for elegance in our society. It gives the everyday life tranquility and fluidity. But it also means respect and appreciation of oneself and others.
Elegance and etiquette go hand in hand. Etiquette is behavior and elegance its aesthetic. Clothes and charisma communicate the values of etiquette and evoke polite manners and leave a positive memory.
We need elegance in our society. Architects like Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry and many more see this importance aswell. They seek a balance between static and fluidity to achieve elegance. What these architects are looking for our society on a large scale, I would like to find in a smaller form around the body. The proportioned balancing and composing of materiality, construction and color should create the elegance and naturalness of my collection.
The elegance of the fashion of the 30s is a great source of inspiration. In my aesthetics, I want to bring the lightness and refinement of this time into the present. The structure of the collection spans from simpler everyday clothing to elaborate evening wear. My target audience are adult women and men of all ages. They value the perceptions of those around them, and therefore elegance and polite behavior, regardless of their wealth.
Ideally, the etiquette would be subtly perceived in the collection. The opposite is invited to reflect this expression of etiquette through elegance in clothes with a polite response. It creates an elegant resonance in calm and fluidity.
